Bodyfulness

I read a few pages of The Enchanted Life by Sharon Blackie (what a book!) as a meditative start to my day. The pages I opened to were a discussion and exploration of "bodyfulness" as opposed to "mindfulness."

I feel pulled, strongly and viscerally, into this exploration of how our bodies experience life separate from our minds. They are in the world, part of it, absorbing it as light waves through our eyes. Molecules of flowers, leaves, earth, entering us through our noses. Touching a tree -- we feel its touch back.

I've had Himalayan cedar wood essential oil out on my work table for a week. It's the star of the show in a blend I'm formulating for a client who came to me with sleep troubles and anxiety.

I find the more common types of cedar wood (Atlantic/Atlas and Virginian) difficult most times. It can go sour or sharp depending on its companions. But Himalayan... ah! Soft, almost velvety. So nourishing. I breathe it in and it fills me with a feeling of safety and protection.

Breathing in our lives and experiences, exhaling stagnating thoughts, patterns, and ideas: this is Himalayan cedar wood's gift. It gives us a sense of deep connection to the outside, and brings inside us the vibrant, clean energy of earth, wood, and fire.

As a grounding ritual, no better oil comes to mind for seekers of connection to the many manifestations of God all around us. It feels holy to me, divine, complete. Bodyfull.

"If we didn't confine ourselves to the primarily visual, and instead, like other animals, relied more on our sense of smell, perhaps it might be easier to see how the boundaries between ourselves and the world around us might blur." Sharon Blackie, An Enchanted Life (Ch. 5: At home in our skin)

Cedrus deodara (Himalayan cedar) essential oil is a beautiful substitute for Cedrus atlantica (Atlas or Atlantic cedar), a more commonly sold essential oil with Endangered status globally.

I purchased my Himalayan cedar wood from EOApothecare, a company I can trust to supply the highest quality, highest vibration and purity, essential oils, absolutes, resins, and hydrosols.
